Worm Tidbits

August 8th, 2008 . by admin

For many people, worms are just creepy and crawly. For others, especially those who run and operate worm farms, worms can be fascinating creatures.
Worms can eat up to their own body weight in organic material everyday.
Some statistics show that worm castings may have five times the amount of nitrogen, seven times the amount of phosphorous, eleven times the potassium, and one thousand times the beneficial bacteria than what the worm ate in the first place.
The largest worms tend to be from South Africa and Australia. Worms are usually only a few inches long, but the longest recorded measured in at over twenty-two feet long.
Each of the 2,700 kinds of worms is unique and special in its own right.

Keeping the cats at bay

July 20th, 2008 . by admin

I have two small cats and although I loved very much they really can be hard work sometimes because they do tend to stray and sometimes I do not even know where they are. This began to get on my nerves a little bit and so in order to solve the problem I decided to install some cat fencing. This essentially makes sure that my cats do not stray and it has really given me a formal peace of mind and I used to have before. I think it was a great decision to make.

Moving with the times

July 17th, 2008 . by admin

I have had a manual lawnmower for many years and I really did not think I would want to replace it. But last month when I was mowing the lawn I realized that it was taking me much longer than usual because I do not have the energy that I used to have. After looking at the garden center I realized I should buy one of the many types of self propelled lawnmowers since these would really help me to get the job done. I know do not find it so difficult and I’m glad I made the purchase.

Honda mulching lawnmowers were the best answer

March 24th, 2008 . by admin

I spent several months looking at gardening catalogs trying to find the best type of gardening equipment for the garden in my new house. After spending a lot of time flipping through the pages I decided to buy one of the range of Honda Mulching Lawnmowers, because it seemed that they were exactly right for my needs. I went ahead and had it delivered after ordering it from an online gardening supplier, and I can honestly say that it has turned out to be a really great purchase to have made.

A small indoor greenhouse keeps me occupied

February 19th, 2008 . by admin

I do not have a garden at all, and so I really had to find some way of growing plants indoors, but in a way that would enable me to grow them properly. After speaking to a friend who knows quite a lot about gardening, I decided to buy a Small Indoor Greenhouse. I wasn’t sure that it would do very much at first, but now I have been using it for just a few months I can see that my plants are growing really well, and I can see I am going to be able to do some great things with this. It just goes to show that even if you have no garden you can still be a gardener.

Woprm Castings Factory

January 9th, 2008 . by admin

How is it that my neighbours flowers and plants and even her vegetables were looking healthier than mine? We were both ardent gardeners and simply loved our plants. But I sensed that my plants were simply lacking something and I had to find out her secret.

I met her and she briefed me all about worm castings and how she was even having her own little worm factory right in her house. After the chat I came home and immediately searched the internet for more details about those wonderful creatures called worms, worm castings and how to have my very own worm factory at home.

Summer Accessory Hammock

November 24th, 2007 . by admin

Here we are knee-deep in summer. It’s time to let your mind wander anywhere it wants to go–into your garden where the flawless fruits, flowers and vegetables burst into colors Crayola couldn’t even imagine; onto the deserted white beaches of a private island that floats somewhere in turquoise waters; anywhere you’ve wanted to be but haven’t had the time, money or ability to get to. The possibilities, as they say, are endless. If you’re inclined to participate in these lazy days of summer, you only need one tool, in addition to your imagination, of course. May we suggest an accessory hammock?

Spice Things Up With Outdoor Garden Lighting

November 20th, 2007 . by admin

What better way to spice up your garden (except for growing spices of course) than with some funky lighting effects? Garden and outdoor lighting is used in much the same way as it is indoors. Rather than just using light to illuminate pathways and patios (which is fine), Be a little creative. Try and use your exterior lights to highlight features in your garden or dark areas that need a little oomph.
