More and more people have to deal with autism and asperger syndrome regularly.  Some people think that this may have to do with heightened awareness of the disease and people identifying the problem, even those that have a mild case.  It might also be possible that the environment around us is actually causing the Autism problems that we are experiencing.  Further research is going to be necessary in order to identify what is causing the problem and until then, they are not really going to be able to offer much of a cure.  The best that they usually can do is to give you support so that you can cope with the situation.
