A terrible storm had hit our area. Trees downed power lines, and electric service was interrupted. Crews were trying to restore service, but because so many homes had been affected, it was taking a long time. In the meantime, water levels in my basement were rising beyond control. Although I have a sump pump, it was not operable due to the fact that it runs on electricity. I went to Lowe’s, hoping to purchase one of their battery back up sump pumps, but they were out of stock. Apparently, many more individuals had the same idea I had. Luckily, our electric service was restored a short time after I had returned home. The sump pump began to run, and it successfully pumped all of the water out of my basement.
