The Composition of Perfume

November 27th, 2007 . by admin

It may be surprising for many people to know that the business of making perfume is closely allied with the same industries that give scents to floor wax or even give your pre-packaged potato chips flavor. Scents and flavors are typically composed by experts with knowledge on aesthetics (this is especially important for perfumes) and a working knowledge of chemistry. Chemists will then try to follow the perfumer’s or composer’s vision to achieve a certain mood or feel. After some trial and error, the resultant scents and flavors are patented when applicable and sold to whichever company or individual that has commissioned it.
